The Lake County Board of Supervisors voted 4-0 to accept a $20,000 donation from Calpine Corporation to sponsor an America250 drone show in the county.
Chair introduced the item explaining supervisors had sought major donors to support two drone shows—one in north Lake County and one in the south—to commemorate the nation’s 250th anniversary. The county’s PIO read a statement from Amy Blaine of Calpine: “Lake County has been the home of the Geysers for generations, so we are proud to support an event that brings neighbors, families, and friends together to celebrate in a safe, innovative way while fostering connections and making our community strong.”
Supervisor Sabate said the board and staff would share the cost to ensure the county can present two shows rather than one. The scheduled dates are Aug. 7 and Aug. 8; staff said locations and logistics would be finalized imminently and the county would issue a press release once the Lakeport site is confirmed.
The board accepted the donation and authorized the chair to sign required documents, with the approval recorded 4-0.
