The North Salt Lake Planning Commission voted to recommend the amended general development plan for Clifton Place South (a PUD proposed by Brighton Homes) to the City Council, subject to the findings and conditions in the staff report. Staff described a changed unit mix, a reduction from 111 to 102 units on the South parcel, and a substantial increase in parking to 366 spaces, partly because a 2024 state code change requires counting tandem garages as two spaces.
Staff (Sherry) told commissioners the Development Review Committee (DRC) favors a decorative metal fence with masonry columns rather than the applicant’s requested site‑obscuring precast fence along Redwood Road, citing sightlines for safety and concerns about graffiti and deterioration. John Blocker of Brighton Homes said "the staff has been really good to work with in this process" and explained that nearby residents asked for a precast fence; he said Brighton would prefer input on that element but would work with police concerns. Commissioners and staff also discussed pedestrian‑connection redlines and a required driveway alignment change on Cutler Drive for safety; the commission approved the recommendation by voice vote.
