Residents urge council to add a modern skate park; mayor and council signal possible locations

Spencer Weber (Foxborough, 1061 W Haworth Drive) spoke during citizen comment to urge the council to consider installing a modern concrete skate park in North Salt Lake. "I just think it would benefit the community a lot," Weber said, describing large turnouts he observed at regional concrete parks and noting the social and recreational benefits for teenagers and families.
His son, Miles Weber, addressed the council as well and told members, “It really would. It totally would change my whole life,” adding that a skate park near his neighborhood would give kids a safe, supervised place to be active. Council members responded positively: Mayor Horrocks and other council members said Hatch Park phase 2, Legacy Park or other city parcels could be considered and asked staff to evaluate locations, costs and programming options for youth and family use.
The mayor thanked both speakers and noted that staff would examine opportunities during ongoing park planning and neighborhood programming discussions.
