Council amended the agenda on Sept. 9 to add a motion to hold a Special Council meeting specifically to discuss the Charter Amendment Proposal that will appear on the Nov. 5 ballot. The agenda amendment motion was moved by Councilmember Amanda Forte and supported by Mark Lamphier; the vote was recorded as unanimous.
Following that amendment, the council approved a motion (moved by Ted Quisenberry, supported by Amanda Forte) to start the regular Sept. 23, 2024 City Council meeting at 6:00 PM and to convene a Special Council meeting at 7:00 PM that same evening to discuss the Charter Amendment Proposal. The council recorded the vote as all aye; motion carried 6-0. The minutes do not record the text of the charter amendment itself or the positions of councilmembers on the substance; public comment about the amendment was recorded separately (Carol Eberhardt expressed concerns during public comment).
