Resident urges support for grants and warns of regional water risks tied to large developments

Diane Teeter addressed the council in support of the consent-agenda grant applications, saying the community-development grant, TxDOT impaired-driving enforcement funds and the DOJ COPS hiring program provide vital services and reduce pressure on taxpayers. Teeter said, “Grants are not extras. They are lifelines that allow Edinburgh to keep moving forward responsibly.”
Teeter also cautioned the council on water security, citing recent challenges in Corpus Christi and Brownsville after industrial water use and disputes with regulators, and urged transparent, engineering-level water projections before approving rezonings tied to large developments such as a reported more-than-1,000-acre purchase by a tech company in North Edinburgh. She said water security should take precedence over corporate convenience when assessing rezonings and infrastructure approvals.
