Pool opens, Jacob Myers Park charges remain; staff say nonresidents fund most weekend use

The director said the park charges $7 for residents and $10 for nonresidents on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and holidays, and that vehicles with a handicap placard park free. He added the department observed that the majority of Memorial Day weekend visitors were nonresidents and that nonresident fees help offset maintenance and improvement costs paid by the park’s fees rather than city general revenue.
Committee member Sammy Martinez asked whether the latest fee schedule had been uploaded to the city website; the director said the department plans to post the full fee schedule online by 2025 and will present proposed fee adjustments to the committee before sending recommendations to city council for final approval.
Staff also noted pool hours, swim pass pricing (individual pass $30; family pass for four $400) and training/closure days for lifeguard training.
