The Brookings-Harbor SD 17C board held its annual organizational business at the start of the July 22 meeting and elected a board president following a nomination from a board member. Committee member (speaker S2) nominated Jay for president; the motion received a second and passed by voice vote with one recorded abstention.
The chair (speaker S1) then opened nominations for vice chair. A board member nominated a colleague for vice chair and the motion was seconded and approved by voice vote. The board also voted to retain its regular meeting schedule (third Wednesdays) and the current meeting locations.
Board members expressed support for keeping existing meeting dates and noted the option to consider occasional fifth-Friday meetings in the future. The organizational votes were conducted by motion and voice vote; the clerk (speaker S6) confirmed the motions were seconded.
