Committee advances bill to remove obsolete Board of Health and Welfare provisions

Senator Blaylock told the committee RS 33355 removes obsolete language in Idaho Code §56-1002 that referenced substate administrative regions and directors whose positions have been vacant for several years. Senator Wintrow said she valued the perspectives formerly offered by the Board of Health and Welfare and asked where the legislation originated; Blaylock said the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare was aware and that a full bill hearing would allow for proper debate. Senator Shippy moved to send the bill to print; Senator Zuiderveld seconded and the motion carried by voice vote. Senator Wintrow noted she would vote to print but wanted further answers about statutory meeting requirements for affected boards.
