The school board voted to rename the ATC the Center for Career Innovation and approved the proposed primary and secondary marks and the tagline "learning that works." The chair moved the approval and, hearing no objection, declared the renaming and branding approved.
A presenter described the rationale for the change: the facility will serve students from two high schools and the rebrand aims to change perceptions about career and technical education and to set the program apart. The proposed primary mark incorporates a stylized "C" for Center and Career, a compass/key symbol and the new tagline; secondary marks and single-color options were shown as alternatives. The presenter said the design also incorporates colors from Clover High School and Lake Wylie High School to reflect both student populations.
A board member praised the design and asked about an arrow-like element behind the primary mark; the presenter explained those were watermarks from the graphic artist that would be removed in final artwork. The presenter also noted the CTE director, Carrie Bolen, requested the rebrand to present the program as "a compass for navigating your future" and to emphasize that this is "learning that works." Staff will finalize art with the graphic artist following the board's approval.
