"We developed what we ought to call an enhanced corrective action plan where our staff work with the top 5 counties on wages and salaries throughout the year, on corrective action reviews and trainings," the Agency official said, listing Jefferson, Mobile, Montgomery, Catherine and Madison as counties under enhanced review. Officials said Mobile County’s rate has approached 6% or below following local improvements, and the state is piloting pre-certification case reviews in Montgomery County to reduce error rates.
Board members asked about scalability and whether county improvements can be sustained; staff said they are reviewing metrics and will consider scaling back intensive interventions where performance has improved.
