"We're talking about a project that's likely gonna cost between 8 or $900,000 and 1,000,000.5 depending on how big we build it," Ken said, adding that Legacy Park property on the west side could accommodate a 12,000–14,000 sq ft facility without losing primary court areas. Councilors suggested a staged, long‑range approach tied to the general plan and discussed public engagement: using skaters and neighborhood stakeholders to design features, exploring fundraising and public‑private partnerships, and including the idea in long‑range planning so it remains eligible as opportunities arise.
No funding commitment was made; council instructed staff to keep the skate‑park concept in long‑range plans, consider public input and return with more detailed cost and site analyses if community interest and potential funding sources materialize.
