Dr. Lassousa replied that while the distinction is understandable, the district chose a flat-fee approach because tiered fees create significant administrative work and cost. "When you try to gain that level of granularity across hundreds of different activities...you create a very difficult system to manage," Dr. Lassousa said, adding the board set the fee structure to achieve an approximate revenue target of $200,000 for the 2026-27 budget to avoid cutting student programming. She said the district will monitor the approach and can consider modifications in later years.
