Board says remaining acreage is being negotiated with Cedar Lake Conservation Foundation

During the July 21 meeting, county counsel clarified that the legal description attached to the land contract carves out the acreage being sold and does not convey the entire 80-acre parcel discussed in the resolution language.
Brad Stern told supervisors the county is separately negotiating sale of the remaining acreage to the Cedar Lake Conservation Foundation and that the closing for that parcel would follow the land-contract closing, but he did not provide a firm date. He said title and insurance concerns prompted the board to accept a termination of the university lease executed on 07/21/2026 so Matrix Title could complete the county's closing paperwork.
