Experience Maple Grove outlines plan and $1.5M fundraising goal for Hockey Day Minnesota 2028

Anne Anderson, general manager of Experience Maple Grove, told the Park Board the city will host Hockey Day Minnesota on January 29, 2028, at Maple Grove Central Park and that her organization is preparing operations, site logistics and community engagement plans for the event.
Anderson said Experience Maple Grove hopes to raise $1.5 million in the next year and a half to underwrite the event and noted a bank has already donated $150,000. She also described event responsibilities her group would handle, including merchandising, ticketing, media and a logo, and proposed installing a puck wall at the Community Center and hanging banners in the rinks. "I am very confident Experience Maple Grove would reach its fundraising goal," Anderson said. Assistant Parks and Recreation Director Aimee Peterson was identified as the city's liaison; Chair Bill Lewis encouraged Anderson to bring banner-hanging requests forward to staff for consideration.
