Neighborhood leaders urge CRA board to demand firm deadlines for stalled projects

Several neighborhood leaders addressed the advisory board during public comment, describing years-long delays on previously approved projects and urging the board to insist on firm deadlines in the Alta contract and in communications to the commission. “We finally got charged with the budget director, and they came back in September... there was over $2,200,000 sitting in this surplus account,” a neighborhood leader said, arguing the board should require a clear completion date for consultant work and for neighborhood projects.
Another commenter who identified himself as Edwin Capilano said the lights for 4th Avenue remained uninstalled and urged legally enforceable timelines: “You’ve got to set a deadline, and you’ve got to force it legally if you have to,” he said. Board members acknowledged frustration and agreed to ask the commission to prioritize CRA projects and to send a formal communication highlighting procurement delays.
