Board approves inspection contract for Cedar Creek drainage and accepts state grant for police data platform

The Board approved two routine but substantive items Jan. 13: additional engineering inspection services for a drainage restoration project and an appropriation of state grant funds to purchase a police data platform.
Public Works staff described a $58,099 proposal from Timmons Group to provide additional construction inspection services required by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and DEQ to permit restoration work on Cedar Creek. Staff said the funds are available in the Stormwater Utility Fund and that the contractor’s award and a large contingency were already in place.
On public safety technology, the police requested appropriation of Department of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS) Operation Ceasefire grant funds and a sole-source award to Peregrine (Peregrine) for an integrated data-and-analytics platform. Major Nicholas (presenter) told the board the award is a three-year renewable contract at about $70,500 per year and that the grant fully funds the purchase with no local match. "It's entirely state funded," he said.
Board members approved both items by roll call; the Timmons inspection services passed with one recorded 'no' vote and the Peregrine/Operation Ceasefire appropriation passed unanimously.
