Council advances ordinance to ban parking on driveway aprons in Mile Square

Chief Jones explained that enforcement had waned and that updated language in code section 3.51.03 would clarify that parking in the driveway apron is prohibited where it prevents ingress and egress or blocks the sidewalk. "We believe that causes traffic hazards as far as visibility and obstructions," Chief Jones said, showing examples where tires and bumpers block pedestrian access. Resident Janice Dutton thanked the council and asked them to adopt the change; council placed the ordinance on first reading and scheduled follow up at the next meeting in August.
