The board ratified submitting a $250,000 Greenways, Trails and Recreation grant application to the Department of Community and Economic Development for North Pocono Trail Development Phase 2, which would extend the trail network and create a pocket park. Commissioners also ratified a Commonwealth Financing Authority Greenways, Trails and Recreation application for Covington Park ADA walkway and related improvements; staff said the total cost is $135,647 with a county match of $24,000. Separately, the board awarded a CDBG construction contract to Waco of Waymart ($214,725) for the Clifton Township Keystone Road improvement project; staff emphasized these projects use grant funds rather than local tax dollars.
"If awarded, this project will extend the trail network and construct a new pocket park creating additional recreational opportunities and expanding regional trail connectivity," a department presenter said. Commissioners approved the motions by voice vote.
