The Lackawanna County commissioners approved awarding the Murley Sarnoski Park improvement project to Woodcock Construction of Kingsley for $1,600,000. County staff said the project will replace the 1970s bathhouse and pavilion with a modern, ADA‑accessible facility that includes upgraded restrooms, a lifeguard station and a community room.
Tommy Carlucci, speaking for the department, said construction is projected to complete by spring 2027 "right at the time of the park season." He added the county will close the park when demolition begins and that the project leverages previously obligated Department of Economic Development funding, avoiding a new tax burden. Commissioners praised the investment as preserving a long‑used community asset.
