President Newnam and the Trappe Town Council introduced Ordinance 1-2026 on May 6, 2026, presenting the town’s General Budget for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2026 and the Enterprise Budget for water and sewer operations. The ordinance as presented would set a real-property tax rate of $0.33 per $100 of assessed value, a commercial/business personal property and public-utility tax rate of $0.75 per $100, and an annual residential trash-collection fee of $189.80.
Commissioner Chase moved to introduce the ordinance and President Newnam seconded; the council recorded votes of Sullivan–Y, Newnam–Y, Potter–Y and Chase–Y and the motion carried. The council set a public hearing on Ordinance 1-2026 for June 3, 2026 at 6:00 p.m., giving residents an opportunity to comment before final adoption. No final tax rate or fee was adopted at introduction; those decisions will follow the public hearing and any further council action.
