Engineer: stormwater system reached capacity during Tropical Storm Debbie; board to follow up on standing-water complaint

District Engineer Charlie Krebs briefed the River Ridge CDD Board that Tropical Storm Debbie produced nearly 8 inches of rain in parts of the community over two to three days and that some low-lying systems reached capacity, although system flows were unobstructed.
Krebs explained that roads are designed for about 5.5 inches of rain in 24 hours and that, in response, The Club could add a drainage connection to E1-A to allow water to bypass pipes and inlets and flow directly into a lake. A resident said standing water was coming up through a slab and believed it was causing mold; Krebs noted he did not receive similar reports from neighboring units and stated he did not believe the standing water was the resident’s cause. The board asked Mr. Long to comment and asked staff to include the matter on the next agenda for follow-up.
Krebs also reported that the MRI project replacing Pinehurst valley gutter inlet grates is roughly 80% complete and that he will confirm the schedule for asphalt patching; Lee County Utilities handles the water-line repair referenced in the meeting.
