Commissioners approve hiring for district court deputy and county attorney assistant

Park County commissioners voted to post and hire a second full-time district court deputy after the department reported understaffing and received multiple applications. Cheyenne, joining the meeting by phone, said interviews would be held that week and staff recommended filling both approved positions if candidates accept offers.
"I'm still up in district court, so I'm just listening in from my phone," Cheyenne said when asked to address the commission; she confirmed interviews were scheduled. Commissioner Vermillion moved to post and hire the second full-time deputy and the motion passed by voice vote. Separately, the county attorney’s office requested authorization to refill a recently vacated administrative legal assistant position; Paul Spittler confirmed the vacancy was to refill a recently vacated post. Commissioner Wells moved to post and hire the administrative legal assistant, and the commission approved the request.
Human Resources staff said interviews for the deputy positions would begin that week and HR will work with hiring departments to process recruitment and onboarding.
