Commissioners sign revised DBHHS task order to fund local CBT training

County staff asked commissioners to sign a revised DBHHS/DPHHS task order that restructures a previously deliverable-based $25,000 contract into a form acceptable for a federal reimbursement grant. The rewritten task order will pay for a visiting trainer’s time and travel to train local counselors in brief cognitive behavioral therapy and to prioritize local counselors for participation.
"We rewrote the contract specifically to get the gentleman from New Hampshire, the professor that's gonna come out and do that, brief cognitive behavioral therapy," said Travis, describing the contractual changes and the training plan. Staff said registrations for an earlier scheduled session were refunded after the prior contract could not move forward; the revised task order is expected to support training in the fall, with a target effective date of Oct. 1. Commissioner Wells moved that the commission sign DBHHS task order number 27-07-0-01-194-0 for the community health improvement plan; the motion passed by voice vote.
County staff said the program will train and credential a limited cohort of local counselors who will be available to provide rapid brief CBT in crisis situations, and that continuing education credits and travel costs for the trainer are included in the rewritten task order.
