Residents urge Lake 8 drainage fixes after damage to home floors; engineer recommends Seaside-style regrading

Rich Batterberry, identified in the minutes as a resident and NVR of Oak Run, told the board that Oak Run residents "are asking the Board to consider something similar to their neighborhood, as it takes a long time for the rainwater that pools from the monument to halfway down Lake 8 to recede." He said one resident incurred significant repair costs to mitigate water coming up through the floor.
District Engineer Charlie Krebs reviewed the scope of the Seaside work and said the Lake 8 issue could be addressed by completing similar regrading work; Chair Bob Schultz said the matter will be considered during the Fiscal Year 2025/2026 budget process. Staff did not provide a cost estimate at the meeting; Mr. Krebs said he would obtain costs for replanting littorals at a separate location and will include stormwater-related items in the upcoming forecast.
