The Putney Selectboard approved a municipal property tax rate of 0.6822 for the 2026–2027 tax year at its July 8 meeting. Selectboard Chair Eric McGowan presided as Aileen Tulloch moved to approve the rate and Rebecca “Bex” Slattery seconded; the motion passed unanimously.
Town Manager Karen Astley told the board the result reflects roughly $100,000 in surplus funds and a significant increase in the Grand List. The homestead education rate was reported at 1.2793 (a decrease of 0.0608 from last year) and the non-homestead education rate at 1.225 (a decrease of 0.0126). The minutes state that on a $100,000 house, homestead taxes are approximately $58.90 lower than last year; the town reported totals of 1,220 parcels, 1,024 taxable parcels, and 565 taxable homesteads. Tax bills were scheduled to be mailed the following week.
