Council accepts $18,440 paving quote for Maple Avenue repairs; contractor to be asked to include added potholes

Council members reviewed two asphalt patch quotes and a list of potholes during the April 1 meeting. President Newnam noted the contractor quotes listed 13 potholes while Superintendent Shawn Lane's list showed 16; Lane said additional potholes appeared after the quotes were issued and he will ask the contractor to include them or apply cold patch materials himself.
The council considered two written bids for asphalt patching: East Coast Land Management for $18,440 and J Cooper Asphalt Paving for $22,150. Commissioner Rose Potter moved to accept East Coast's $18,440 quote; President Newnam seconded and the motion passed unanimously. Separately, President Newnam moved to award a backup landscaping/stormwater bid to Good Life Landscaping in the amount of $3,475 if Apex Landscaping fails to complete a Maple Avenue stormwater project by their scheduled on‑site date of April 7; Commissioner Walter Chase seconded and the motion passed unanimously.
