The city clerk introduced multiple special-event requests that asked the council to waive the prohibition on possession of alcoholic beverages in specified public areas for upcoming events. Clerk Heffner explained that Fat Joe's requested a waiver for Fondue Fest on Sept. 12 along Division Street (Main to Macy) from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m., with no glass containers and staff monitoring required. The council moved and the resolution passed unanimously.
Heffner then described three separate Blue Line Tavern event waivers under Resolution 92-52: Tossing for Tommy (Aug. 15), Little Midget Mania Wrestling (Aug. 29), and a murder mystery dinner (Oct. 17). Staff recommended conditional approval (security monitoring, no glass, reopening streets after events). Each resolution was moved, seconded and each vote passed unanimously.
Council members asked procedural questions about staffing and police interaction with event monitors; the police chief explained the city's approach to event staffing, planning and officer allocation depending on event size.
