The Minocqua Board of Supervisors on June 16 approved a policy change that will require leaves and needles collected during any future town spring clean‑up to be placed in paper bags rather than plastic. Director of Public Works Mark Pertile told the board the paper bags are readily available locally and decompose naturally, reducing handling and disposal work for town employees.
The board passed the motion (mover: Supervisor Billy Fried; second: Supervisor Lance Krolczyk) by voice vote. The board directed that notice of the bag requirement be included in the 2026 tax bills and said continuation of the spring clean‑up program itself will be discussed during the 2027 budget process. The motion included an explicit operational rule: if the board decides to continue the program, plastic bags will not be picked up.
