Charlene reported to the Millis School Committee that town hall has processed the FY26 closeout transfers and that district and town accounting are in agreement. She said the transportation transfer originally estimated at $32,000 will be $28,531, and staff corrected an expense that had been paid from Title I instead of Title II.
Charlene told the committee the district finished the year with a general-fund surplus of $387,920 and that some salary costs charged to the school-choice program will be reallocated to the surplus to offset overspending in the choice account. The superintendent and members characterized the closeout as positive news after several years of drawing down the choice fund.
Committee members thanked Charlene and staff for reconciling accounts and noted the district’s improved position heading into FY27 planning.
