An administrator reported that when accounting for a poverty index and student-growth measures, the district ranked number one in the state for math growth among comparable districts and 19th in ELA. "When you consider all the different facts too ... we're 19th in ELA," the administrator said, noting the need to package the data for community understanding.
Board and staff discussed shifting instructional practice toward providing shared experiences before introducing concepts, addressing math anxiety among students, and using August professional development time to focus on math instruction and mindset work.
