Board recognizes winter athletes and honors staff with kindness awards

The board spent the opening portion of its meeting recognizing student-athletes across winter sports and honoring staff with Participating Kindness awards.
Presenters and coaches highlighted the girls basketball team's 18–7 record, multiple all-league selections (Jenna Garza, Mia Lopez, Angel Torres and one first-team selection), and the team’s WIAA academic recognition for a GPA above 3.5. Coaches also recapped the boys basketball season, including a Sundome postseason appearance and individual honors for Brady Medina.
Dina Perez (speaker 2) and other wrestling coaches noted a recent state champion in the wrestling program and growth in participation. Staff member (speaker 10) announced the March kindness awards, naming nominator Angela Gomez and honoree Chad Bunker (GHS social studies/AVID teacher), Allison Claynow (paraprofessional) and Mary Alvarado (transportation dispatcher); plaques and photos will be arranged.
Chair (speaker 1) thanked attendees and noted the recognitions were a highlight of the meeting.
