"Air BnBs have to pay NH room and board tax and they have to be registered with the state as well as get a permit from the Town," Brown said.
Board members acknowledged that rentals grandfathered in before the town's permit process can be difficult to track and that enforcement is typically complaint-driven; the board said it will send standard letters to owners when complaints arise and expects to require a new permit if a grandfathered property changes ownership. The board did not set a townwide inventory count for Airbnb units at this meeting.
