Eversource reverses free-install claim; Select Board weighing two cost options to restore Israel River Road light

Chair Norman Brown briefed the board on efforts to re-light a previously D.O.T.-funded streetlight at the end of Israel River Road. Eversource originally informed the town the light could be restored at no cost because the pole and service appeared to exist, but a later Public Service review determined wires had been cut and that the pole ownership was unclear.
Brown presented two cost options: replace the pole and install a new service run at $6,971.01, or keep the existing pole and hire an electrician to pull wire from a ground box at $6,215.90. Brown told the board he will contact Eversource management for clarification before the board selects a path forward. "Before moving forward with anything, I will have a conversation with someone in management at Eversource," Brown said.
