Select Board votes to order title search on old library property

Chair Norman Brown told the board that a title search will clarify whether the town owns the parcel under the old library and whether the town has legal authority to move or preserve the structure. After discussion of preservation interest and prior town maintenance, Terri Lararb moved to have a title search completed on the Old Library property; Kevin Meehen seconded the motion and the board voted unanimously to proceed. "Whether or not the title search is done now or if the SB waits until the end of the year, it will have to be done at some point," Brown said.
Board members asked how the search will be funded; Brown said costs will be covered from the town's legal expense account. The motion passed without dissent; the town will report back with the title-search results and next procedural steps.
