Deputy DPW director Tom Jones asked the board to authorize submission of a 2026 Department of Natural Resources operations and maintenance grant for marina pump‑out services that covers the county's boating season (April 15–Nov. 15, 2026). "Upon approval, Department of Natural Resources will reimburse the county up to $5,000 for eligible pump‑out expenses incurred during that period," Jones read from his memo.
Commissioners asked whether the county had used the program previously and whether costs had exceeded $5,000; staff replied that the county has submitted these applications annually and that total expenses historically have not exceeded the DNR cap. The board voted to approve submitting the grant application.
