The council approved a developer reimbursement agreement with Charles Poole Jr. on July 21 to reimburse up to $79,250 for a 6-inch potable water-line extension serving approximately 2.08 acres subdivided into two parcels (Nacogdoches Central Appraisal District parcels 81424 and 217034) near North Street and Ernest McLean Road. Kaye Soperman, director of public works and city engineer (speaker 6), explained the city’s developer-reimbursement ordinance allows up to 500 feet of reimbursement for commercial water or sewer extensions (100 feet for residential) when the work is designed and constructed to city standards and then accepted by the city.
Soperman said the linear footage for this extension is approximately 400 feet and the city budgets $250,000 annually in water and sewer budgets for developer agreements; staff confirmed budget availability for the reimbursement. Council moved and approved the item unanimously after brief questions about prior uses at the site and whether sewer or private lines currently served the properties.
