Council OKs $586,828 Tetra Tech contract to redesign city water and wastewater SCADA

City staff told the council on July 21 they selected Tetra Tech to prepare a complete design package for city water and wastewater SCADA-system upgrades at a contract amount of $586,828. Jason Vickery (assistant director of public works and associate city engineer, speaker 11) said the SCADA system is outdated and the contract covers inventory, detailed design (50% and 90%) and final bid documents, with bidding services to follow on a time-and-materials basis.
Vickery said the multi-year project’s timeline aims for final design in 2027 and potential construction in late 2027 into 2028. Councilors asked whether materials and equipment prices are volatile; Vickery and others said electrical and computer equipment prices are subject to market fluctuation and supply-chain impacts. A motion by Council member (speaker 10) to approve the contract passed unanimously.
