Fox Canyon staff recommended and the board approved a $100,000 contribution to Cuyegas Municipal Water District’s regional desalter feasibility study, which is being conducted by HDR and budgeted near $1,000,000 including options and contingencies. John Demers told the board the study meets project 9 of the basin optimization plan and that partnering on the regional effort would be less costly than running a separate study.
Ian Pashar of Cuyegas Municipal Water District thanked the board for the contribution and staff participation during scoping; he said the study group expects a draft in March 2027 and aims to identify one or two desalter concepts including location, source water, and potential ownership/operations structures. The board approved the recommended contribution by motion and voice vote.
