Commissioners allocate $516,927 in state paving grant to highway paving line

The Scott County commissioners approved allocating $516,927.38 in Community Crossing matching grant funds to the county paving line. The grant, received from the state, is placed into a county account and then assigned to paving projects as bills come due.
Kevin Hall of the highway department said the money is already in hand and the department’s immediate need is to pay outstanding paving bills: “The money's there from the state. I just need to pay the bill,” he said. Commissioners moved and seconded the transfer and recorded the vote in favor.
Commissioners thanked highway staff for getting small structures recovered after recent flooding and discussed contracting procedures (work is done by bidding contractors). The motion to accept the appropriation passed with the recorded vote shown in the minutes.
