Project staff and the construction team reported that bids submitted for the school construction were ‘‘extremely favorable’’ and that the team expects to refine scope to determine a final guaranteed maximum price. A project representative said roughly 60 sub-bids arrived across the roughly 14 trade categories and six alternates, and that the team met quickly with Suffolk and design consultants to begin refining numbers.
Committee members asked when outstanding procurement for the remaining 20 percent of the work (demolition, drywall, landscaping, elevators) would occur; the contractor said that procurement for non-filed subcontracts is already underway and that certain long-lead equipment (switchgear) will be released early to avoid delays.
