Draft policy clarifies advisory committees and school councils must follow open meeting law

The draft policy language for advisory committees (BDF) was revised to state that advisory committees are subject to provisions of the open meeting law. "Advisory committee shall, under the policy, are subject to provisions of the open meeting law," the chair said, and members agreed advisory bodies created under policy must comply with open meeting requirements.
Committee members asked staff to review BDFA (school councils) and ensure that the draft aligns with how the district currently operates school councils and joint sessions for at-large or resident members. Brad Morgan noted some district-specific language for joint sessions would need to be preserved or clarified.
