County to install public tire-recycling dumpster after $10,000 grant

County highway staff announced that the Orange County Solid Waste District secured a $10,000 grant to fund a public tire-recycling dumpster; the county plans to place the container at the highway garage and make it available during business hours starting Aug. 3.
Highway superintendent Carl said the grant funds will pay for a dumpster and that residents will be able to bring up to eight tires during garage hours (Monday–Thursday, 6:30 a.m.–5 p.m.). “Orange County Solid Waste District was successful in securing a $10,000 ID and grant for tire recycling. We will be using these funds to pay for a dumpster,” he said. Commissioners accepted the announcement and asked staff to post hours and guidance for residents.
