Council adopts FY26‑27 strategic plan with changes; city introduces new staff member

The Moab City Council adopted Resolution O5‑2026 on March 24 to formalize the city's fiscal year 2026‑27 strategic plan, approving three council amendments during the discussion. The council voted 5‑0 after moving to add explicit safety enhancements to active transportation (including Mill Creek items), to include adoption of a downtown master plan as an action item, and to "begin discussions" on updating the general plan.
During the same agenda item staff introduced a new city employee who will work on grants and sustainability. The new staffer introduced themselves as Alex (who said they "go by Val") and said they would be focusing on grants, sustainability and strategic initiatives. Council members welcomed the hire and thanked staff for consolidating priorities and for their work preparing the plan.
Councilors asked that the strategic plan's action list reflect both near‑term projects and the longer downtown/master‑plan work so that CIP and budget requests can be tied to strategic priorities; staff said they would work to align CIP projects with plan actions.
