District outlines summer capital work: seminary conversion, playground upgrades and welding-shop landscaping

Business Administrator Scott McMillan briefed the board on capital projects planned for the summer, including converting the former seminary building into classrooms (installing sprinklers, adding cabinetry and bathroom space) and landscaping tied to recent construction projects.
McMillan said Mountain Green Middle School will receive a playground as part of prior capital plans and Mountain Green Elementary is moving through design phases for playground upgrades to improve ADA compliance. He also said the high school will add a ventilated nail-tech room and expand the day-care area to include an infant lab.
The board heard these as part of the business-administrator report and were told additional capital requests may be presented through the district’s regular capital project process if schools seek carpeting or other upgrades beyond the planned scope.
