The Mount Pleasant Plan Commission unanimously approved Resolution 11-2026 to amend the transportation element around Emerson Road West, aligning proposed streets with an approved preliminary plat and removing an east–west Apollo Drive connection through an existing developed parcel.
Sam, planning staff, told the commission that the amendment "streamlines the previously kind of excessive points along Emerson Road" while aligning Mariner Drive and Kinsey Avenue to improve regional traffic flow. Robin summarized public hearing feedback from June 29, saying most concerns related to construction traffic and an associated rezoning and plat rather than the comp plan amendment itself. Robin also noted one adjacent property owner may be willing to sell a rear 0.5-acre to enable a connection to Explorer Drive.
Commissioners asked whether small local roads such as Haven Drive should remain on the plan given narrow right-of-way and title history; staff recommended leaving development-dependent entries on the plan for now and doing more detailed title research if removal is later considered. After discussion, a commissioner moved and the commission voted to approve the amendment unanimously.
