School committee adopts 2026–27 family & student handbook; cell-phone policy also approved

The committee moved to approve the handbook for the 2026–27 school year. Michael La Bossier moved, Michael Le Bossier seconded and the roll-call vote passed with an abstention recorded for one member; the chair confirmed the handbook was approved as presented.
Separately, the committee considered adoption of a cell-phone policy (policy GBEF / related citations). After brief questions about how the handbook and the cell-phone policy would align if the policy changed, the committee voted to adopt the cell-phone policy. "If the handbook is voted through and the policy does not pass, we'll have to adjust it in the handbook to make it align with the policy," Superintendent Morgan said during the discussion.
The chair noted the membership page and formatting will be updated before public posting. Committee members asked that the public-facing packet include the membership update and that any substantive edits be handled transparently in subsequent minutes.
