The Carlin City Council on Aug. 27 heard an $80,000 offer from Double Down Heavy Repair for Parcel ID 002-290-002 (3003 Carlin Trend Drive), described as a portion of a larger 40-acre mixed-use plan that included public storage units and potential industrial/retail leasings.
Vice Mayor Cameron Kinney explained the parcel is above the equestrian park next to an old motocross track and said the bidder proposed storage and other industrial offices. City Manager Richard Braithwaite told the council the appraised value is approximately $196,000 and that the city had received four offers on the property (including two from Satview). Councilmembers raised concerns about job creation and asked that any potential buyer present a written plan with contractual obligations. Because the company's representatives were not present, the council took no action and Mayor Holbrook said he preferred a solid, written proposal that would include recapture language if development did not proceed.
