Carlin council unanimously rejects Satview Broadband offer for city land

Mayor Dana Holbrook and council members unanimously rejected an offer from Satview Broadband (doing business as Eccelerate Internet) to purchase city land at 3003 Carlin Trend Drive.
City Manager Richard Braithwaite told the council Satview had inquired about roughly 35–38 acres and then offered $45,000 for a 40-acre parcel (parcel ID 002-290-002). Braithwaite said the company planned no buildings on the site, which “would result in no new property tax revenue for the city.” Mayor Holbrook said he was not in favor of selling land that would not yield improvements for the community.
Councilperson Brandon Keller agreed that the financial offer was too low and added the parcel lacked water and sewer connections that would enable development. Vice Mayor Cameron Kinney said he also had concerns about Satview's history in Carlin, noting the company had not fulfilled a prior promise to provide fiber-to-the-home service. Denise Taylor said the city should prioritize sales that expand the tax base. Cameron Kinney moved to reject the purchase offer; Brandon Keller seconded and the motion passed unanimously.
The council did not direct staff to reopen negotiations; the formal vote was recorded as a rejection of the offer for parcel 3003 Carlin Trend Drive. The council did not schedule further action on the parcel during the meeting.
