Public Works representative Jennifer Mayo framed the request as a preventative measure to "protect new investments in the park, including a splash pad and pavilion," citing past vandalism. Mayo described the system’s capabilities and long-term warranty; vendor representative Kristina Myasnyankina told the council the system "meets government security requirements." City Manager Richard Braithwaite confirmed funds exist in the Park and Recreation budget. The motion to approve the purchase, including installation, passed unanimously.
Councilmember Cameron Kinney said he appreciated the thorough research that enabled an informed decision and noted potential IT considerations about integrating internet options; Sterling Skinner cautioned about operational drawbacks of moving fully to VoIP. The purchase is to be funded from the existing park budget and staff will coordinate installation.
