"The developer estimates 350 school age children, but if I use the Rutgers, New Jersey demographic multiplier, that estimate is actually closer to 423," the speaker said, and added that current district enrollment is approximately 6,400 with maximum capacity around 7,100. The speaker asked whether the district could be involved in planning now so that redistricting, additional classroom needs, busing and staffing can be planned before homes are built.
Board members agreed the question merits follow‑up: staff were asked to collect back‑to‑school schedules for board and community planning and the superintendent said he would share the speaker's information with the appropriate township and the board's attorney to determine next steps. The speaker explicitly urged the board to request an independent school impact study from the township and zoning boards before project approval.
